Hurricane Mathew made a landfill in Florida Friday morning with
torrential rains and up to 1 hundred 20 mile-an-hour winds after a blast
through the Caribbean that reportedly left more than 3 hundred dead in
Haiti.
After cutting a deadly swath across the Caribbean and leaving at least 2
hundred and 83 dead in Haiti, up to 3 hundred and 39 according Reuters,
the Category four storm was to crash up against the southeastern United
States early on Friday.
Evacuation orders were issued for areas covering some three million
residents and major cities like Jacksonville, Florida and Savannah,
Georgia lay in the path of the terrible storm. Mathew has already
battered Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas
and US officials are taking no chances, warning the loss of life is a
virtual certainity.
As the first bouts of heavy rain and powerful gusts arrived at seafront
resorts presaging the storm beyond, more than 90 thousand homes and
business in Florida had lost power
