From Ghatasthapana to KojagratPurnima in Dashain, 563 accidents occurredand 101 people lost their life

This year, 563 accidents occurred in Dashain this year; however, 502 accidents had occurred in last year Dashain. From Ghatasthapana to KojagratPurnima in Dashain, 101 people lost their life. Last year, in the same duration, 92 people had lost their life. The capital, which had been quiet since Phulpati as most of the people left Kathmandu for celebrating Dashain in outskirt villages, is now gradually turning into crowd. The crowd is increasing for the offices have resumed since today. Therefore, the traffic has been increased on the roads.

The passengers are entering the capital through Nagdhunga, Balkhu, Sankhu, Araniko, B.P., PasangLamhu and Tokha Highways. According to Traffic Police, about 8,000 vehicles are entering Kathmandu through several highways, which is almost double of the normal. About 22 Lakh people, who had been to their villages to celebrate Dashain, have started coming back. So the traffic has been increasing on the roads in Kathmandu. As the private and the public offices have opened since today, the traffic has been observed increased on the roads in the valley, especially at the time of going to offices.

In the meantime, the process of putting tika, kamara and blessing the people has continued even today. The Jamara (yellowish green holy shoots of Dashain) will be expired after KojagratPurnima tomorrow on Saturday, October 15, 2016. When the Jamara, which was sown on Ghatasthapana, i.e. October 1, will be discarded on KojagratPurnima, i.e. on October 15, which will farewell Dashain.
