An unidentified group has opened fire at the Police during a pursuit at Chiyan Daanda in Matatirtha early on Thursday morning. Confirming the incident, Metropolitan Police Circle Spokesperson SP Pradhyumna Karki said that shots were exchanged between police and individuals riding a Tata Sumo jeep, Na 1 Ja 3948, along the Matatirtha-Chiyan Daanda-Makwanpur graveled road. The Police followed the Tata Sumo jeep on suspicion, as vehicles rarely ply along the road section, when the people inside the jeep opened fire to which the police personnel retaliated, SP Karki said. “We followed the jeep as vehicles rarely ply through this road section. They shot two rounds at us and we retaliated,” said Karki, “The left the vehicle and ran after we fired back. The Police is searching for the perpetrators.”
