In Nepal billions of rupees have been invested in the name of conservation of wetland area, Satkhaluwa Lake of Bardiya though the lake is in high risk of drying up

Nepal’s wetland areas are under encroachment. Billions of rupees have been invested in the name of conservation even though the encroaching of wetland has not been controlled.

Even some of the tourist wetland areas have been overshadowed. Tourism area, Satkhaluwa Lake that lies in Dadhbaar VDC of Bardiya nearby Chure Range has been in obscured. In Nepal billions of rupees have been spend in the name of conservation of wetland area though wetlands areas that are in high risk are drying up.

As the donors could not bring long term planning for the conservation of wetland areas, the amount that had been invested are going on waste. Natural Satkhaluwa Lake that lies in Dadhbaar VDC of Bardiya district is overshadowed.

Satkhaluwa Lake that has three natural lakes like Satanji, Satpatuwa and Satkhaluwa Lake is spread in an area of 60 bighas. When all around the lake water gets dry in winter season there used to be water in Satkhaluwa Lake so, the lake has been the habitat of several animals including deer, tiger, and various birds including python said Lake Conservation Committee Chairman Sunil Chapagain.

Sankhuwal Lake carrying the natural beauty as well as attributes lies in the lap of northern Chure range of East- West Mahendra Highway. Even we can see Red Lotus which is one of the scare flowers.


Now, the locals of this area have demanded with the government and the organizations for the protection of the lake and its natural beauty as well. The lake that has full potentiality of abundant tourist destination has been overshadowed lacking of concentration of the country and the institutions.
