Dengue risk has grown inside Kathmandu valley in recent days. The areas in Kathmandu that see-regular movement of vehicles coming from Terai districts are highly susceptible to dengue outbreak.

Due to the massive population inside the valley and unmanaged garbage and sewage system, the risk of Dengue has hiked in higher possibility. Furthermore, different corners of Kathmandu valley have many garage with a lot of discarded tyres which are ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Patients with dengue are accounted slowly increasing in different hospitals inside Kathmandu Valley. Since different parts of India are affected by Denhue epidemic, there are higher chances that the epidemic could enter Nepal too.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. This may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains and a characteristic skin rash. Dengue is spread by several species of mosquito of the Aedes type.

In a small proportion of cases, the disease develops the life threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever. Expertise and doctors have warned citizens to be aware of this disease, implement different measures to prevent mosquito bite.
